PINOT NOIR ILLUSTRATION – WINE ENTHUSIAST MAGAZINE
EDITORIAL ILLUSTRATION
An illustration I created for an editorial spread for Wine Enthusiast magazine.
The editorial illustration is a visual representation of the aroma and flavour profile of Pinot Noir. The article breaks down the primary, secondary and tertiary aroma/flavour characteristics.
The primary characteristics come from the grape itself and include red fruits, black fruits, flowers and earth. Pinot Noir’s secondary characteristics come from decisions made at the winemaking stage – the fermentation process creates the black tea and vanilla characteristics, and the toasted wood flavour is created by using old wood vessels. The tertiary characteristics derive through maturation to create the damp forest floor, mushroom, and potpourri characteristics.
